Over half of a million consumers throughout 24 counties and the greater Miami Valley, all rely on DP&L to provide them with reliable energy. Since 1911, DP&L has been making sure that residential, business and industrial clients are getting the energy services that they need.

DP&L Facilities and Equipment

As one of the state-appointed utilities DP&L is responsible for making sure that this equipment is safe and up and running. The utility provides system improvements to existing equipment, provides annual maintenance and services such as tree trimming and repairs and replaces equipment as needed after emergencies. According to DP&L, the company also inspects 42,500 poles every year and has a replacement system that puts in up to 2,500 new poles per year to keep the area?s electrical system running as it should.

DP&L Energy Efficiency Programs

DP&L has its own Savings Champions program, which is designed to promote energy efficiency throughout their services area. According to the utility, the company has saved enough electricity through the program to power 72,007 homes for a year. This program includes business and government rebates, incentives for using less power, appliance recycling, heating and cooling rebates, incentives for using less during peak usage times, lighting discounts for the home and more. The company also has specialty programs for business as well. Comparing Dayton Power and Light Electricity Rates

Dayton Power and Light is a utility in the deregulated state of Ohio, meaning that customers get to choose which electric supplier they use for their property.

These independent retail suppliers still have their energy transmitted and distributed through DP&L?s facilities and equipment, but they may be able to offer customers with lower rates on their energy plans as well as different options and incentives.

However, some customers may choose to keep their energy account with DP&L. Customers who do choose to leave their account with their local utility can still enjoy competitive pricing thanks to the laws set in place by the state of Ohio.  Ultimately, we recommend all customers to shop around and compare available rates before deciding to partner with a retail supplier, or to leave their energy account with DP&L or any state-appointed utility.
