About Rhythm

Rhythm Energy was founded in 2020 in Houston by PJ Popovic (a Serbian immigrant and former VP/GM of Direct Energy's U.S. market), Gordon Avery, and Matthew Tolliver. The company launched in January 2021 and quickly grew by onboarding approximately 50,000 customers from Entrust Energy after Winter Storm Uri. In June 2025, Rhythm acquired Inspire Clean Energy, expanding into nine additional states (PA, NY, NJ, MA, OH, DE, IL, MD, DC) and becoming one of the largest independent green energy retailers in the country. Rhythm offers exclusively 100% renewable energy plans and also manages the Energy Texas brand.

Rhythm FAQ

Common questions about Rhythm electricity plans, rates, and service areas.

What areas does Rhythm serve?

Rhythm offers plans in six Texas deregulated TDU territories: Oncor, CenterPoint, AEP Texas Central, AEP Texas North, TNMP, and Sharyland. Enter your ZIP code to confirm availability and see rates for your territory.

What are Rhythm's current rates?

Rates range from 7.4¢ to 14.8¢/kWh depending on the plan and territory, with an average of 11.9¢/kWh. The lowest rate is currently in the CenterPoint territory. Rates on this page update multiple times daily.

Why do Rhythm rates differ by territory?

Each TDU (Transmission and Distribution Utility) charges different delivery rates that are passed through to your bill. The same Rhythm plan can cost several cents more per kWh in one territory vs. another because of these delivery charge differences.

What contract lengths does Rhythm offer?

Rhythm currently offers fixed-rate plans ranging from 12 to 36 months. Early termination fees apply if you cancel before your contract ends. Current ETFs: 12-month plan: $20; 24-month plan: $20; 36-month plan: $20.

How do I switch to Rhythm?

Choose a plan and enroll online or by calling their customer service line. Your new provider coordinates the switch with your TDU — power stays on during the changeover, typically within 1-3 business days.
