Budget Power is a trade name of Capital Energy PA LLC, a Texas retail electricity provider holding PUCT certificate #10293. The parent company began operations in August 2021 under the 'Value Power' brand and has since launched multiple retail brands. Budget Power launched in November 2024, positioning itself as a low-cost provider with fixed-rate plans across all major Texas deregulated territories.

What areas does Budget Power serve?
Budget Power offers plans in six Texas deregulated TDU territories: Oncor, CenterPoint, AEP Texas Central, AEP Texas North, TNMP, and Sharyland. Enter your ZIP code to confirm availability and see rates for your territory.
What are Budget Power's current rates?
Rates range from 10.7¢ to 12.7¢/kWh depending on the plan and territory, with an average of 11.5¢/kWh. The lowest rate is currently in the CenterPoint territory. Rates on this page update multiple times daily.
Why do Budget Power rates differ by territory?
Each TDU (Transmission and Distribution Utility) charges different delivery rates that are passed through to your bill. The same Budget Power plan can cost several cents more per kWh in one territory vs. another because of these delivery charge differences.
What contract lengths does Budget Power offer?
Budget Power currently offers fixed-rate plans ranging from 11 to 36 months. Early termination fees apply if you cancel before your contract ends. Current ETFs: 11-month plan: $100; 12-month plan: $100; 24-month plan: $175; 36-month plan: $250.
How do I switch to Budget Power?
Choose a plan and enroll online or by calling their customer service line. Your new provider coordinates the switch with your TDU — power stays on during the changeover, typically within 1-3 business days.
