The two winning essays have been selected (scroll down to view).  We thank all of those who submitted an essay!

We’re giving away $1,000 — one $500 scholarship to two students.  Submit an essay by April 30th for your chance to win $500 for school!

With summer on the horizon and energy consumption to be on the rise, homes and businesses across the U.S. will start seeing their electricity bills skyrocket.  In Texas alone, where Electric Choice is headquartered, $24 billion dollars a year of electricity is consumed.

If Texas were an independent nation, its electric market would be the 11th largest in the world.

HOW TO ENTER

Simply put, in 800 words or less, tell us how people can lower their electricity bills.  Whether it be swapping out incandescent bulbs, sealing leaks around windows and doors, playing an active role in energy conservation, or taking advantage of energy deregulation — we want you to tell us how people can lower the amount they pay for electricity every month.

Feel free to get creative.  We’re looking for an informative, but fun and easy read.

Two winners will be chosen — each will receive $500.

This scholarship is open to anyone attending an accredited post-secondary institution listed here for the entirety (full-time) of the 2016-2017 school year.  Winners will be announced on this page on May 31, 2016. Winners will also be contacted via e-mail.
