Base Power FAQ

Common questions about Base Power electricity plans, rates, and service areas.

What areas does Base Power serve?

Base Power offers plans in five Texas deregulated TDU territories: Oncor, CenterPoint, AEP Texas Central, AEP Texas North, and TNMP. Enter your ZIP code to confirm availability and see rates for your territory.

What are Base Power's current rates?

Rates range from 13.3¢ to 14.2¢/kWh depending on the plan and territory, with an average of 13.7¢/kWh. The lowest rate is currently in the CenterPoint territory. Rates on this page update multiple times daily.

Why does the same Base Power plan have different prices in different areas?

Texas electricity rates include two components: the provider's energy charge and the TDU's delivery charge. Since each utility territory (Oncor, CenterPoint, AEP Texas, etc.) sets its own delivery rates, the total cost of a Base Power plan varies depending on where you live — even though the energy portion stays the same.

How long are Base Power electricity contracts?

Plan terms range from 36 to 36 months. Fixed-rate contracts lock in your energy rate for the full term. If you need to cancel early, expect an early termination fee — current ETFs: 36-month plan: $20.

What do I need to enroll with Base Power?

You'll need your service address (or ZIP code), a valid ID, and your Social Security number for a credit check. Some plans may not require a credit check or deposit. Select a plan above to start enrollment. The switch typically completes in 1-3 business days with no service interruption.
