Why does the same Champion Energy plan have different prices in different areas?
Texas electricity rates include two components: the provider's energy charge and the TDU's delivery charge. Since each utility territory (Oncor, CenterPoint, AEP Texas, etc.) sets its own delivery rates, the total cost of a Champion Energy plan varies depending on where you live — even though the energy portion stays the same.
How long are Champion Energy electricity contracts?
Plan terms range from 12 to 24 months. Fixed-rate contracts lock in your energy rate for the full term. If you need to cancel early, expect an early termination fee — current ETFs: 12-month plan: $150; 24-month plan: $250.
How do I switch to Champion Energy?
Choose a plan and enroll online or by calling their customer service line. Your new provider coordinates the switch with your TDU — power stays on during the changeover, typically within 1-3 business days.
